Josh Brolin’s Cable is one of the most highly-anticipated characters in any comic book movie universe, and Ryan Reynolds has just revealed our first look at Cable in Deadpool 2!

Fans have been waiting a long time to see Cable adapted for the live-action X-Men universe: There was a massive casting search, with everyone from Brad Pitt to former James Bond Pierce Brosnan being rumored for the role at one point or another. Avatar star Stephen Lang was also a longtime fan-favorite nominee for the role, so how does Brolin measure up, now that we are finally seeing him?

In terms of visuals, Brolin looks very much the part of Cable. The eye scar and bionic eye both look on point, and the picture makes sure to include teases of the bionic left hand, as well as the general bionic structure of his left abdomen and chest/neck area.

Where fans may have some criticisms (there are always a few) is with two aspects of the character, as depicted here:

The haircut, which looks like a 1920s gangster’s hairdo.
The pose of the picture, which is a bit on the playful side, with Brolin giving a smirk with his shushing motion.

Fans who know anything about Cable know: fun times and playfulness are not what the character is about, even if it seems fitting for a Deadpool movie.

Last week, we got our first look at the X-Men movie version of Domino (Atlanta star Zazie Beetz); fan reactions to that image and its differences from the comic books have been buzzing ever since.
