Fans got plenty of new footage of Justice League at San Diego Comic-Con, but a certain Kryptonian did not make an appearance.

After the footage was shown, a young fan asked the assembled panel about the Man of Steel’s absence, and Aquaman’s Jason Momoa filled him in, saying “I’m not sure if your parents showed you the last movie, but SUPERMAN IS DEAD.”

Superman met his end at the end of Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice at the hands of Doomsday, but not before taking the monstrosity down. Wonder Woman actress Gal Gadot didn’t reveal if fans would be seeing him in Justice League, but she did give the young fan some hope.

Gadot said, “We can’t say much, but if you’re a big fan of Superman you’re going to love Justice League.”

The Man of Steel has been featured in several posters for Justice League, but he’s been absent from any footage and trailers thus far. Steppenwolf was treated the same way until today, so odds are Superman is being saved for the big promotional push in October and November.
