Spider-Man: Homecoming has officially been certified fresh by review aggregation website Rotten Tomatoes.
 
With 83 reviews aggregated, Spider-Man: Homecoming has a Rotten Tomatoes score of 93% and an average rating of 7.6 out of 10. The Rotten Tomatoes critical consensus reads:
 
“Spider-Man: Homecoming does whatever a second reboot can, delivering a colorful, fun adventure that fits snugly in the sprawling MCU without getting bogged down in franchise-building.”
 
According to Rotten Tomatoes, “Movies and TV shows are Certified Fresh with a steady Tomatometer of 75% or higher after a set amount of reviews (80 for wide-release movies, 40 for limited-release movies, 20 for TV shows), including 5 reviews from Top Critics.”
 
Spider-Man: Homecoming is the fourth Spider-Man movie to receive a certified fresh rating. Spider-Man earned an 89% rating and Spider-Man 2 earned a 94%, while the first reboot movie Amazing Spider-Man earned a 72%. Spider-Man 3 still ranked fresh with a 63% rating, making Amazing Spider-Man 2 the only rotten Spider-Man movie with a 52%,
 
In Spider-Man: Homecoming, thrilled by his experience with the Avengers, young Peter Parker returns home to live with his Aunt May. Under the watchful eye of mentor Tony Stark, Parker starts to embrace his newfound identity as Spider-Man. He also tries to return to his normal daily routine — distracted by thoughts of proving himself to be more than just a friendly neighborhood superhero. Peter must soon put his powers to the test when the evil Vulture emerges to threaten everything that he holds dear.
 
Filming for Spider-Man: Homecoming began in June 2016 at Pinewood Atlanta Studios in Georgia. There were also on location shoots in an Atlanta high school, a hotel, and Atlanta’s West End. Some filming did take place in New York City, where the film wrapped production in October 2016.
 
Spider-Man: Homecoming is directed by Jon Watts, from a screenplay by Jonathan Goldstein and John Francis Daley, Watts and Christopher Ford, and Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers. Spider-Man: Homecoming stars Tom Holland, Michael Keaton, Jon Favreau, Donald Glover, Zendaya, Jacob Batalon, Laura Harrier, Tyne Daly, Marisa Tomei, and Robert Downey Jr.
