Now that Barry Allen (Grant Gustin) is somewhere in the Speed Force, Team Flash is left to pick up the pieces of an explosive season three finale on The Flash. According to actress Candice Patton, her role beginning in season four is going to put her character — Iris West — in a spot she hasn’t quite been in yet in her time on the show.
Talking to With An Accent on scene at the Saturn Awards, Patton teased a much larger role for Iris when we see her next.
“We do get to see a different version of Iris,” the actress said as she confirmed season four picks up six months after Barry’s disappearance into the Speed Force. “She’s a little harder, she’s without the love of her life.”
The Saturn Award-winning actress — she won this year’s Best Supporting Actress award — went on to discuss what her new role exactly entailed.
“She’s kind of had to step into this role as the leader of the Flash team,” Patton reflected.
Season four is set to premiere on October 10, 2017 as it will find Iris, Cisco, Wally, and Joe trying to pick up the pieces after Barry’s disappearance into the Speed Force.
