Guardians of the Galaxy vol. 2 is one of the most anticipated superhero films of 2017, and we here at Comicbook.com were lucky enough to be invited to the set of the film to talk with the cast and crew!

One of the Guardians franchise stars we had the pleasure of sitting down with was Dave Bautista, who plays Drax the Destroyer, one of the biggest breakout stars of the first film. The sequel’s use of Drax’s all-too-literal approach to the world has already made audiences laugh; however, the first film also milked a great final moment out Drax’s testy relationship with the monosyllabic antics of Vin Diesel’s Groot, who will appear as “Baby Groot” in the sequel.

When talking to Bautista, on set, it seems as though Groot’s baby form won’t have enough charm to sway Drax’s no-nonsense stance towards him. According to Bautista, “[laughs] I don’t think Drax and The Tree are ever going to get along. Just always going to be at odds with each other. It’s like that sibling rivalry, it’s what it feels like to me.”

Audiences are looking forward to that friendly rivalry almost as much as the crazy action we’ve already seen on display!

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is written and directed by James Gunn (Slither). The film marks the return of the original Guardians, including Chris Pratt (Jurassic World) as Peter Quill/Star-Lord; Zoe Saldana (Star Trek Into Darkness) as Gamora; Dave Bautista (Spectre) as Drax; Vin Diesel (Furious 7) as the voice of Groot; Bradley Cooper (American Sniper) as the voice of Rocket; Michael Rooker (Jumper) as Yondu; Karen Gillan (The Big Short) as Nebula; and Sean Gunn (Gilmore Girls) as Kraglin. New cast members include Pom Klementieff (Oldboy), Elizabeth Debicki (The Great Gatsby, Everest), Chris Sullivan (The Knick, The Drop) and Kurt Russell (The Hateful Eight, The Thing).
