Gorilla Grodd made a big impression on The Flash in past seasons, and the show is bringing him back in a major way later this year.
Executive producer Aaron Helbing spoke to EW about the upcoming episode, which will see the return of the fan favorite Grodd. While that is big news in and of itself, you can expect a great deal more from the anticipated episode. “The team will go to Gorilla City. We’ll see where Grodd was sent. We’ll see his standing amongst the other gorillas. There are some sequences in the two episodes that are unbelievable. They’re epic and unbelievable in scale and scope. I’ve never seen anything like it on television.”
The description should get fans pumped for the episode, as it’s not like The Flash doesn’t deal with big events like time travel and multiple universes on a regular basis. To hear him describe it as unbelievable in scale and scope is a big deal when you consider what they’ve done in the past.
H.R.’s (Tom Cavanagh) past catches up with him when a bounty hunter with vibe powers named Gypsy (guest star Jessica Camacho) arrives in Central City to bring him back to Earth-19 to stand trial for his crime. It turns out inter-dimensional travel is illegal on their Earth. H.R. surrenders but when Barry (Grant Gustin) and Cisco (Carlos Valdes) find out that H.R.’s only hope would be to challenge Gypsy to a fight to the death, they intercede and Cisco offers to fight Gypsy instead.
Harry Jierjian directed the episode with story by Benjamin Raab and Deric A. Hughes and teleplay by Zack Stentz
The Flash airs Tuesday nights at 8 p.m. ET/PT on The CW. “Dead or Alive” will air on The CW next week on January 31st to continue The Flash’s third season.
