There are a lot of famous villains in the Star Wars universe. From Emperor Palpatine to Darth Vader and now Supreme Leader Snoke, there are dozens of dark siders out there to terrifying the Resistance – and it looks like Henry Cavill wants to join them. In a recent Instagram post, the Man of Steel star ditched Superman’s iconic suit and admitted he wanted to be a Star Wars villain.
Currently, Cavill is out visiting a watery paradise after a busy year with the DC Extended Universe. The actor, who starred in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, has been preoccupied with Justice League shoots thanks to Zack Snyder. Having earned a vacation, Cavill went snorkeling and discovered his OceanReef mask had turned him to the dark side.
“When you love being Superman but you secretly want to be a bad guy in Star Wars too!” he wrote on Instagram. Cavill shared a photo of him in an intense diving mask that looks like it came out of Krypton.
Unsurprisingly, Cavill is not the only person involved with the DCEU who has a soft spot for all things Sith – or, at least, Star Wars. Earlier this week, director Zack Snyder posted a mash-up trailer to Vero that combined Batman v Superman with Star Wars.
“Dark Side Knight v Superjedi. In anticipation of Rogue One, I wanted to share a little Star Wars fan film I made after JJ [Abrams] released his Hunka Junk mashup…long overdue,” Snyder wrote.
Prior to the uploaded, Synder had teased fans about his passion for Star Wars on the social media site. The director posted a photo of Batman gripping an unsheathed lightsaber, and he did the same for Superman prior to the release of Man of Steel.
Since Cavill has now indicated his interested in Star Wars, it is only a matter of time until fans begin clamoring for the actor’s casting. There will be a few inevitable fan-theories speculating whether Cavill is actually Supreme Leader Snoke – but that will be a debate for another time. Maybe once Rogue One: A Star Wars Story debuts, yeah?
