Mads Mikkelsen has quite an impressive resume. The Danish actor became well-known in 2004’s King Arthur and continued to gain international appeal with Casino Royale. In recent years, fans have seen Mikkelsen take on roles like Hannibal Lecter and franchises like Doctor Strange and Star Wars.

Now, it looks like Mikkelsen is looking for a change in routine. During an interview with Birth Death Movies, the actor confessed he was interested in doing a zombie flick.

Mikkelsen responded rather enthusiastically to the idea when the site asked which film genre he would be interested in tackling next. The actor answered zombies without a second thought, saying he loved the undead creature.

“I do love watching Walking Dead. I do. There’s something so fascinating,” he said, “when the zombies are moving sufficiently slowly, you actually want to live in that world, you know?”

When the actor was asked why he’d want to live in surely post-apocalyptic world, Mikkelsen said it is because “you can just f**king chop the s**t out of them!”

However, the actor did say he would handle the genre with care and not approach the undead icons recklessly. “You should always be aware! Don’t get too close up! Because that’s when (Mikkelsen mimes biting someone’s neck) that’s when they come.”

When it comes to zombies, it doesn’t appear as if Mikkelsen has a set preference. The actor is clearly a fan of The Walking Dead’s lumbering monsters, but Mikkelsen has a soft spot for more lethal, predatory zombies as well. When asked whether he liked slow or fast walkers, the actor said, “They are quite fascinating, the fast ones. Like World War Z. But it’s also too scary, man. That’s too fast for me. I wouldn’t stand a chance.”

If AMC is ever in need of some grade-A villains for their hit drama, then it looks like Mikkelsen would be keen on auditioning for a role. The network has already confirmed that The Walking Dead will return for an eighth season, but the show does have its hands full with its current villain. Negan battered his way onto the small screen this season, and fans have al agreed the baddie is one of the show’s most violent yet.
